I'm looking for some expert advice on the Magazine 70, serial number UI309733. Hasselblad have confirmed manufacture as 1974 but don't have a record of the serial number so can't answer my question. The question is should the frame counter re-set to zero when the insert is extracted. They say it depends on the type of mag 70 it is, but unfortunately they cannot confirm this from the serial number.
Can anyone offer advice please ??.

(Assuming you're not holding one of those huge, motorized 70/500 magazines, that take an entire 30m roll of 70 mm film - which we can safely do, since they carry different serial numbers) Yes, it should return to zero the moment you remove the insert from the shell. Just like the one in 120 or 220 film magazines.
It is probably gummed up through lack of use.
What were you planning to run through the magazine?
